New features

The release of Sage 50 Payroll 2008 continues Sage Payroll's development as the UK's leading Payroll software for small and growing businesses.  The new features have been specifically designed to provide the user with faster processing capabilities, improved efficiencies and control of the payroll process.  These features will be introduced into each of the Payroll range variants.

Improved Compliance Management


Easier Management of Employees on the minimum wage, the new functionality will enable:

  • The user to opt out of minimum wage checks if they have no employees that are impacted.
  •  Automatic identification of employees (via a flag) paid the minimum wage and include a legislation updated table for minimum wage thresholds.
  • Ability to use the minimum wage indicator to increase wages across multiple employees or groups of employees.
  • Easily identify employees who are due to have minimum wage increases based on age.
  • Ability to make up minimum wage in periods where commission and bonuses are usually included but fail to pay minimum wage for that period.


NEW Automatic generation of Statement of Employment Particulars:

  • Every employer has a duty to provide their employees with a ‘Written Statement of Employment Particulars’, this will automatically be created when a new employee is created within the software.
  • Employers are further obliged to issue written statements for any changes in the key terms of employment. Sage 50 Payroll will identify if any of the key terms supported within the software are changed (14 items) and generate a notification of these changes for issue to the employee.


Comprehensive Electronic Payslip Management

Enhanced functionality to enable the speedy production of electronic payslips for those employees who have elected to be notified of their pay in this way.


Improved Data Capture/Acquisition


NEW ability to input Deductions:
The timesheet input option will now allow the input of deductions as well as payments speeding up data capture.
Improved Data Import Templates.
Improvements to the data import templates to increase efficiency.

Automatic FREE activation of e-banking.
Addition of Civil Partnership as a marital status.
Inclusion of Accrued holiday in ‘Final Pay Run’ calculations.
Vista Compatibility.
Microsoft Office 2007 integration.
