A local Commercial Property Advisor was having difficulty adapting complicated spreadsheets - Check-Tek offered tailor-made training which solved the problem and gave them a solid foundation of skills for the future.
The company sell and manage commercial property throughout the area and use complicated costing spreadsheets in Excel for the Property Management side of the business. The spreadsheets calculate profitability and show whether any costs are recharged against the rental income.
Check-Tek had the solution
The spreadsheets had been set up by someone who had now left the company and the new person entering the information did not know how to change and adapt the spreadsheets. So for example if another property needed adding, the new user did not know how to calculate the costs and use the formulas that had been set up.
The company searched the internet for IT trainers in Swindon and found Check-Tek had the solution. Firstly Check-Tek investigated the requirements in detail with them and then discussed the different training options available to them.
Much better knowledge
The first option was a standard Advanced Excel course in Check-Tek’s specially built training room. The second option was for Check-Tek to analyse the spreadsheet and explain to the user the way they could add properties to the sheet. The third option was to train the user on Excel, concentrating on the areas that they would need for their specific spreadsheet but also giving them a much better knowledge of the potential.
All these options would enable the company to use the spreadsheet but Check-Tek recommended the third option which had the added benefit of enabling them to change and improve the system.
Highly skilled
The company agreed with the recommendation for the third option and Check-Tek provided the training on a one-to-one basis at their premises. Before the training began, Check-Tek gained a full understanding of the way the spreadsheet was constructed and then assessed the users existing skills in Excel.
This ensured the training was tailored to the clients exact requirements and the user gained maximum benefit from the training time. The training was delivered over two weeks in small sessions so that any questions the user had could be answered in the second part of the training.
